My Friend Anna

My friend Anna came here with a school group, her mom, her friend Sue and her sister Rosy. She was here for about 3 months. She did homeschooling while she was here.

We met her when we were looking through our window at the apartment next door (my mom saw her first, I was getting out of the bathtub!). We became good friends and anytime I wanted to talk to her, I would just open the window and blow my whistle for her.

The night before she was leaving Florence to go back to her house in Minnesota, she came over to our house for dinner. When she got back to her apartment that night, I blew my whistle for her and waved goodbye! Now every time I look out that window I am sad. I miss her!

Buon Compleanno a Mio Nonno!

Today is my grandfather's birthday - I call him Bapoo. I picked a poem out of my poetry book for his birthday present. I am going to post it here and I am going to call him and read it to him. The first poem I picked out, and the second one my sister, Alice, picked out.

Earrings

I got my ears pierced on Saturday. My earrings are green diamonds, but on December 1st I can change them into the earrings that I got for my birthday that are ladybugs. I have to clean my ears every night with a special lotion and I have to twist my earrings around so they don't get stuck. I can even twist them around in school without putting the liquid on them. My neighbor Janis is going to get me some other earrings for a birthday present. Since we told her about my birthday too late, she didn't have a chance to get me a present yet, so when she heard I got my ears pierced she said she would take me out to get new earrings for a present.

Sleepover Party!!

Friday, November 10th, was my birthday and i had a sleepover party. I had six girls over. I got lots of presents and a pair of ladybug earrings. We covered the living room floor with mattresses and we slept there. The next morning we did gymnastics on the mattresses too. Then me and two other girls got under a blanket, and we asked some of the other girls if they could cover us with every single blanket that we had. It was fun. We had pizza for dinner and crepes with nutella for breakfast. My birthday cake was vanilla with pink icing and decorated with marshmallow fruits with yucky jelly inside of them. All of the other girls thought that it was yucky too. The End.

My Braces

I got braces on November 2nd and I got to pick the colors of the rubberbands that go around them. Next week I will change the colors of the rubberbands and my dentist lets me pick the colors each time I see her. But last year I had a "palate expander" - when the dentist took the palate expander out, she put the braces in. Here are some pictures of me with my new braces in:

Halloween & Tutti i Santi

Today* is the first day of vacation - we have 5 days of it!!! Last night was Halloween and my sister was Snow White (Biancaneve) and I was a witch (una strega). We got a whole sack full of candy. We went trick-or-treating with my friends ("scherzetti o dolcetti").

* Note from mom: Jane wrote this on Wednesday morning, but I'm not posting it until Thursday evening. Yesterday, November 1st, was a major holiday here in italy - All Saints Day, or Tutti i Santi...

Red Paint

One day my dad was shaking a can of paint by his ear and it was very old so it exploded right by his ear and he got ten stitches and his glasses got paint all over them and he still gets paint on Q-tips! Here is a picture for you.

Waterlillies

A few weeks ago we went to Boboli Gardens for the afternoon and we saw a garden that we had never seen before. I liked the pond where the water lilies were growing. When we were in Paris in June we went to Monet's garden in Giverny. We saw his water garden and I went over the japanese bridge that I saw in the book of "Linnea in Monet's Garden".

Travelling around the World

I have been to Saint Thomas, Venice, Paris, New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, Anguilla, Saint John, Tortola, Anegada, Rome, Chianti, and lots of others. And they are all really pretty. I have lived in Hoboken NJ, Philadelphia PA, St. Thomas VI, and now I live in Florence Italy. In the summer I sometimes live with my grandparents in Mantoloking, NJ. I have 7 cousins that live in Mantoloking in the summer and I can bike-ride to their houses. In Mantoloking I take sailing classes with two of my cousins.

jane's voyage

Hi i am 8 years old and i have a story for you about my life. I was only 7 when i moved to Italy. It so happened that my mom and dad wanted to move to italy. So i said sadly i don't want to move to italy. But my mom said we already have tickets to go. And the next day we were going to Italy. When we got to Italy I made some new really cool friends and I thought it wasn't so bad after all.
