I got braces on November 2nd and I got to pick the colors of the rubberbands that go around them. Next week I will change the colors of the rubberbands and my dentist lets me pick the colors each time I see her. But last year I had a "palate expander" - when the dentist took the palate expander out, she put the braces in. Here are some pictures of me with my new braces in:

Jane! Braces!!!! Wow! You are so grown up now!!! Did you know your mother and I both had braces?! Your mommy was good about them and did everything she was supposed to do, but I wasn't very good. Surprise, surprise. My teeth are crooked, and your mom's are straight. So be a good girl and do everything the dentist tells you! You'll be glad you did!
Hey - this is the mom (Jane's mom) signed in as Jane... Jane looks really cute in her braces and she's really excited about them. Sam, I actually flushed my retainer down the toilet by mistake when I was about 21 and never got it replaced...my top teeth still look straight, but my bottom ones are a mess and recently I'm actually having jaw pain and am thinking I might need braces again! UGh... You don't have crooked teeth, do you?

Hi Uncle Sam - This is Jane -
You were wrong, my mommy's bottom teeth are crooked. I think that is why the dentist glued my braces in, so that I couldn't take them out so they wouldn't get flushed down the toilet like my mommy's.
